Hey All
Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has ever fitted a thin IS boot spoiler to an un-drilled boot?
Any help much appreciated!
Cheers

I had to redrill the boot on my iS as some moron had welded up the original holes and fitted a nasty fibreglass MTEC spoiler.

I made a template out of card (e.g cereal box) of the underside of the lip spoiler and taped this to the bootlid. To get the right height from the bottom of the rear of the lid to the bottom of the back of the spoiler you should check on another E30 with a spoiler fitted. When you have the card template properly fitted, you can mark the centres of the bolt holes and then carefully drill them. I used an 8mm spot weld drill it and it worked well.

An alternative and easier method is to go to a scrappy and either buy a bootlid already drilled or find a bootlid already drilled with its spoiler removed and make a template for the back of the bootlid with accurate positions of the holes. You can them apply this to your own boolid.

Remember to check and double check your measurments and you only have one shot to get it right.

Mine turned out OK position wise, but it was very difficult to remove the excess weld on the underside, took alot of time with needle files
