Would anyone be able to do this for me as I've been told its the only way for sure to see whether or not my head gasket is on the way out.

The last thing I want is to have it tested and for there to be nothing wrong but the garage say the head needs to be done a moneyspinner.

I'm no mechanic and I know how slippery these garages can be, any help would be appreciated....

Find a BMW specialist nearby. They will probably be able to do a pressure test, and if they are any good, they'll have a reputation to maintain, so won't be vastly expensive.

Claytons in Bristol can do a pressure test, I believe.
Try this link for more info on pressure tests.

is there mayo on the oil filler cap? or oily residue in the coolant?

Does the car overheat?

It sounds like your scaring yourself and convincin yourself that something is wrong when its a normal thing for the e30 to 'smoke' a fair bit.. check out the pics of sport in photo gallery in the public apology thread

nothing on the cap, can't tell about the coolant, someone mentione dot me that there is a dye that can be put in the coolant that will change colur if there's a problem, any ideas...

I may be worrying over nothing but this old girl's my daily driver, if the head's on the way I need to know like yesterday. I had to scrap a 735i that lost its head gasket and I defo don;t want to do that with this baby!!!

If there was oil in the header tank you'd notice!!
