Hi,
Has anyone ever had and solved a problem with a flickering brake pad warning light. It only happens after about 10 miles when everything has properly warmed up. Pads are nearly new, connecrions are good, I think it could be a dry joint in the instrument cluster, can anyone point me in the right direction.

Cheers
Henry :(

Loads of us have had the same problem, and you're right about the dry joint.
Take out the cluster and open it up. There is a small rectangular box moulded into the back, almost directly behind the temp gauge, which contains a large resistor.
Look at the print side of the PCB, just above the temp gauge, and you will find that the connections to this resistor are cracked.
Tighten the two small brass nuts on the back of the cluster brfore you refit it into the car.

Mine done the same turned out it was brake pad wear indicator wire.
Located on n/s/f the wires had chafed through so was earthing, just cut wires, soldered them together and taped them up job done and not an mot fail.

Or you could have invested £3 in a new sensor and done the job properly - including dressing the leads properly.

Pad wear indicator light means replace your pads within the next 500 miles or so, not instant emergency repair on the road!

Iam a mechanic and i am aware of that but was done for quickness, im not suggesting that that should be done as a permanent repair, sorry for any confusion!
