E30 325i strange noise at WOT and high revs

My e30 325i runs fine and pulls well but over 3.5k and ONLY at full throttle i get a strange noise as if the manifold gasket is blowing.

I cant see where its blowing anfd surely if it was blowing i would hear it all the way up the rev range???

any ideas? no undue tapping or ticking when i rev it up stationary or when ticking over, just seems to be when at full throttle on the move over 3.5k

could be a whole load of things ! !

check your spark plugs incase one is loose, rotor and cap.

take the rocker cover on, check the rockers is there one broken ?

sticky valve ?

could sit and guess all day, but id pop in to a garage and get them to give it a quick look.

I get the same on my 320, i thought i was imagining it

Still to check it out myself and see whats up, i thot maybe summit to do with the fan??

very doubtful as i changed the fan only last night and no difference.........well other than the new viscous fan actually working
