Noisy front suspension seems to be something of a perrenial problem on the grey Touring.
Generally the issue has been temporarily resolved by adding grease to the top mounts. The front suspension units were replaced last year and a local E30 specialist claimed that the the important thing was to ensure that the grease packing at fitting was properly done. So had the car to them recently for repacement top units and in no time the front suspension (once warmed up it seems) was creaking and groaning again. Now it is evident that a knock sound occurs when going over bumps etc.
Any ideas please?

Sounds like the top mounts are loose or worn. It is important to get te washers and spacers in the right order when assembling. Tightening the damper nut is a real pain without the right tools.

Thanks to TVRTASMIN for the comments on the washers and glad the comments were helpful to e30bmlover.

I had a knocking going over bumps on mine after I replaced the suspension.
As Tasmin has said ... mine turned out to be the top damper nut wasn't as tight as it should be.
Couls also be the ball joints ....
