I recently bought and fitted some Bilstein â€Ëasprint' rear shocks to go with my fronts from Euro Car parts. The fronts came with the nice blue bellows that cover the damper rod and I assumed that my stupidly expensive rears would come with their own; not so. I couldn't use the ones from my old shocks as they were Koni's and had integral metal covers.

Does anyone have the part numbers of these shields to hand? I'll go into BMW to get them unless ECP stock them. I'm going to have to go through the rigmarole of taking shocks off to fit them.. Lame.

Many thanks for any help.

Jai only the 'sports' come with blue dust covers for the front, the 'sprints' have black covers.

Bloody Bilstein bastards...

I spent hours making sure I had the right part numbers, looking at the motorsport-world website and making sure I had the right ones..

Lemme go check the part number again.

They were cited as the upgraded dampers for E30 M3's with lowered suspension. Sounds right doesn't it????

LAME fuckng LAME. Handles like its on rails though.

Andrew,

we splome about part numbers the other day and I had another look at the box - it says "sprint" on them aswell.

Work that one out!

I was a little surprised that the rears don't come with any covers either whereas the fronts do.

By the way, how much did you pay for the shocks?

Sal the sprints are the correct shorter ones with black dust covers.

Far too much.

I went to ECP cos I wanted to do it that weekend (on a thurs) as I was doing mums car at same time. £158. I wasn't happy.

part number for rears I have is B36-2025 I think, again have to check when I get home. The fronts I will have to find the paperwork for.

If MS world have sold me sports instead of the sprints I'll be PISSED cos theres no comeback. If the fronts are now un-matched to the rears I'm going to drive to scotland and poke the fuckers eyes out.

If I recall the fronts looked short and the damper 'rod' was nearly as wide as the shock body, it certainly couldn't have been bigger.

That sounds like them.. That part number even rings a bell..

Are my rears correct? They didn't seem short but I was taking off some Koni sport shocks so had no immediate frame of refference.

They are shorter.

You got yourself some superb shocks!

What springs are you using?

M3 running gear, full poly bush, 15" BBS (5stud), M3 (california) 4.1 big lsd, M3 ARB's and droplinks, H&R 35mm springs.

Chassis needs stiffening now.

Shortly swapping to MZRoadster rear arms and brakes all round with 215/40/17's and the Torsen LSD from roadster.

Should be nice. Not cheap!

Thank god I (dont think) I have the wrong shocks. Just had a stomping fit around the office and I should be doing layouts not E30 Zone!

The last set of sprints i bought for a customer and for Simon13 were supplied with black dust covers and the part numbers were, P36-0335.

there is no B36-2025 shock for the rear.

Sounds like Billy cant make their minds up...

Those are the part numbers I have (90% sure on that till I get home) and I have the blue bellows.

Thanks guys.

The shocks are really nice. Not too harsh and have awesome turn in and good grip. The rears are still bedding in making the rear a little higher than before which in turn has changed my instant roll centre and made the car feel different (a touch more bump steer and lift off over steer than with the Konis but much more feedback and grip). Waiting till the pressure equalises and I get my tracking done (other than by eye) before I pass final judgement, plus have to get new wheels and fit MRoadster trailing arms.

EDIT: Just re-read your post Andrew.. I must 've got the number wrong in my head. I'll look into it but its something like that.

Jai.
