Officially you are not supposed to be able to remove them without breaking them, but with a little patience it's possible to re-use the existing pedal.

Firstly a little info on how the pedal is mounted:

On the floor, there is a flat metal plate sticking upwards with 3 notches in it. The plastic pedal slots over this plate and has 3 plastic clips that secure in the notches.

To remove the pedal, you need to use a screwdriver to gently unclip the clips from the notches. Two of these clip from one side and the middle one clips in from the other side. If you press the carpet downwards you can just about see how it's secured, but it's a case of pushing at the catches with the screwdriver while gently pulling the pedal upwards.

Cheers,

Ian.

Just to add, pre-88 cars have a different pedal, the base slots 'into' the mount on the floor. Opposite way around from the later cars.
Only about £15 from the dealers IIRC 8)
