do the electric windows (e30 325ise) have a micro switch to stop the motor when the window is fully up?
the reason i ask is the the driver side tries to carry on up and sounds like its clicking past motor teeth or something

It doesn't stop automatically. It just hits the stops and stalls the motor.ollielsd wrote:lol yeah i figured that bit !

If you have the engine stopped and the doors open, you can see the interior lights dim because of the motor's stall current.

The "up" stop is the window frame, so I think you would have noticed if that had fallen off.
Think either the gears in the motor or the teeth on the quadrant may be bu**ered.
New window mech required. Very rare!. So rare that they go very cheap second hand.

Dead easy to change once the door card's off.
