hello can anyone help , i have just fitted a shriek 284/272 cam to my 325i m20 engine, when i started it up it runs like a dog it was missfiring and every now and then popping back, is it the case that the ecu has to readapt by me taking the car on a run or should it run ok from the start

and also if anyone runs a m20 with this cam how smooth is the idle

i have already rechecked the belt timing and ths head was fully stripped and rebuilt and all valves ground in

i have also had the throttle body bored out at the same time if this makes any difference hope someone can help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi M8

sounds bad, are you 100% on the cam timing ?

put cams in many M20s now, never had this issue, check all HT leads and the cap are sound etc and eveything is connected corretly under the inlet

popping is normally a lean as hell mixture. check for air leaks also, but whatever you do, dont drive it yet !

Damn, that's what my car does with a 282/272 dbilas cam. I thought it was over fueling not running lean 8O

I've been driving it for a long time like that :(
