The central locking has been dead on my 318is since I got it last year. last night I (finally) got the door pillar connector apart and found one of the red/black wires snapped off through corrosion. As per previous posts (Brianmoooore I think - Cheers Brian!) connected both red/black wires together behind the kick panel, and discovered the CL works, more or less! At least the actuators are all fine.
Slight problem however, it only works from passenger lock. No action when using drivers door lock. I suspect a faulty barrel or other corroded pins in the door pillar connector. Can anyone tell me which colour wires are used to signal lock/unlock?
central locking problem - nearly there!

Usually wear and tear in the mechanism.
There is an alloy arm on the back end of the key barrel assembly, which operates a couple of steel forks on the door catch. The alloy wears away and the catch mechanism doesn't move the locking solenoid enough.
Try adjusting the solenoid in its slots a little, and/or bend the steel forks on the catch slightly so that they contact an unworn part of the alloy on the key barrel.

have you sat in the car mate and checked if you can lock the doors by pushing the drivers door pin down from the inside?
if that works then try it from the passengers side pin if you can do that aswel then it will be what brian mentioned in the above post
the door lock barrel its got a l shaped thing on the end it tends to wear after a while check the door pins first then you can check the drivers door barrel
or what happens sometimes also the door actuators can go they only lock from the passengers side signal or the other way around
its like saying the lock or unlock feature in the actuator has messed up it
try the aboe first to get a idea of whats wrong try also locking from the boot with key

Yes, all good advice before you start pulling things apart.DJ_B4L wrote:have you sat in the car mate and checked if you can lock the doors by pushing the drivers door pin down from the inside?
