seems the fanbelt on the touring chewed a bit of the wire that runs along the front of the engine (assuming oil pressure light wire as my light is flickering)
Phoned BMW main dealer and ordered a shed load of parts, but they cant find any part number for the wire. they said they could possibly make one for me but i guess that would cost a few pennies!
Anyone bought one recently? got a part number would prefer a new one really.
its an 1990 320i touring m20, its had a replacement engine but assume its same on all of them.
oil pressure light wire chewed , part no? or secondhand ok?

I can't think why you shouldn't use a second hand one.

Don't think you'll want to buy a new one - it's part of the whole engine loom - 12 51 1 724 417
It's just a piece of single core wire with a piece of sleeving over it.
you can just cut out the damaged piece and splice a new piece in with soldered joints and heat shrink sleeving.

If its not cut right through then you could just put some new clips on it to keep it away from the pulley, It should be ok until the moistier gets in and rots the copper away
