Probably a bit of a duncey question but does a higher wattage bulb harm in any way. I've just been out to get some silver indicator bulbs and they only had 27w instead of 21w, which the bloke in the shop said are fine. Would they be ok?

Won't do any harm at all. Lot less extra load on the indicators than adding a trailer.
Never heard of 27W lamps. Sure it's not a continental type 1 (looks like a 7)

Doesn't seem to cook the wiring, but the voltage drop on the thinnish wires gets a bit excessive. New, thicker wires from the fusebox and a new earth from each lamp assembly is a good idea.
Fuses will need to be 10A as well.

True, if it's as straight forward as it sounds it may be worth a go. Is it required to change the wiring or just a safeguard?

supply wires seem to stand up to it OK, but yopu might be pushing it a bit on the earths if you have 100W in both main and dip.
If you don't adress the voltage drop issue, you're just not getting the best from the lamps.

Thanks matey, it is deffinately a 7 on the box and bulb bayonet and printed on the side of the bulb. I thought it sounded strange, maybe they upped the watts to pass through the silver better
