Hi Guys, was washing my car yesterday and noticed that the rear driverside is significantly lower than the passenger side, this and the banging that has been happening over the past few days leads me to believe that my suspension is buggered. I jacked the car up and had a look but nothing is aparent (yellow strut) (though I am no mechanic (at all....lol)).

So now, how hard would it be for me to fit a new strut?, I noticed that the spring was seperate from the strut itself (unlike most cars which use coilovers), does this mean it's a straight swap with no need for spring compressors?.

Also with my car being a 318iS I have heard that they have upgraded suspension (same/similar to an M3), any advice on where I should actually get the strut from (the cheaper the better, 2nd hand a dream).

Thanks for any advice, my MOT is due next month so I need to get this sorted as quickly and cheaply as possible.

Cheers

I have a set of springs & dampers from an iS if you need them.

They're a doddle to change - unfasten the ARB before you take the dampers off (support the trailing arms whilst doing this) & there is enough space to swap the springs. If you still struggle, remove the driveshafts from the diff to allow the trailing arms to drop a little further.
