You could start by checking the oil in the diff.

Depending on what sort of noises they are, it may not be too serious, and if the oil is low, and you change it for new (correct) stuff and fill it to the correct level, it may be fine.

The idle problem could be a few things.

Idle Control valve could be at fault, it's worth taking it out and cleaning to see if that makes a difference.

Also the ECU Temperature sensor on the thermstat housing could be faulty, making the engine think it's cold or something similar.

Also check the wiring underneath the inlet manifold....something where the plug is, it gets mouldy and corroded.

Try those, come back with more details if possible and we'll try to help I'm sure.

My idle is f**ked at the moment.Somtimes its fine, then somtimes for the first 10 minutes , literally it stalls at every junctions, almost dangerous at some points.

My dad had a quick go at spraying carb cleaner on the intake but i only made a bit of differnce for about 10 minutes.I would get to him look into it more, but hes got Neumonia (sp?)

Ravi......

The oil you need is specific LSD oil....it costs quite a bit from BMW...

Like almost 50 quid for 2 litres

But you could do it yourself providing you have the tools.

You need a decent set of allen keys...quite big....that's it. And a container which you can use to pour into the diff from below.

Sam...did you take of the ICV? Try cleaning all the breather pipes as well. Could help a bit?
