How much oil will it take to fill a 325i M20 engine which has NO oil in whatsoever. Its a rebuilt engine in case your wondering.

4 litres in the engine, plus 250ml in the oil filter
thus 4.25 litres

it's 4.5 litres but i always put in 5 this gets it just above the max mark on the dipstick

A rebuilt empty 2.5 will take about 4.5 litres to fill, if you have an empty oil cooler too it'll swallow the whole 5 litres.
