My cars starting to become a joke.So far today ive lost count of how many times it stalls. It runs fine once warmed up,but for at least 5 minutes it stalls at most junctions unless the car is kept moving, its actually starting to get dangerous as i dont realise instantly (music on etc) and its hard to keep the car moving constantly.I may get my dad to have a look (Mechanic) but hes ill at the moment,so if theres anything i can try that would be good.

Ive got a Viper2 chip to install, which may bump the Idle level up a tiny bit, but any other options?

Easy check items:

Pull the rubber boot off the TB and cheack for splits in it, bend it around a bit and see whats what.

spray carb cleaner around the intake side of the head with the engine running and see if the idle speeds up a tad, if so spray in small areas til you locate the source.

clean out the Idle control valve with same carb cleaner, can be Very crudded up and cause grief as desribed.

Whatever you do dont chip the car until this problem is sorted, oh and whats wrong with a Zone chip anyways??

HTH for starters..

my guess is that it is the idle control valve if you take it off and spray carb cleaner in it,and clean it out it should stop it for a while till you can get a new one. if that does nothing then it is most likely the idle modual. hope this helps

Intake ? ,its the bunch of bananas cast in alloy hanging off the passenger side of the head:lol:

ICV looks like a small motor but will have two hoses going in and out of it , one of which is plumbed into the intake rubber bellows.

M10/M40/M42 engine ??
