Cavity wax aplication question

I have scraped off the sh*t put by a bodyshop on the inner rear wheelarches as rust prevention and plan to give the whole rear quarter area a good coat of cavity wax. However, my cleaning has managed to remove the very light coat of paint that was there leaving a grey paint (primer?)
Should I prime and paint before applying the wax or just apply the wax to the cleaned surface?

When I first got my Tourer,I scraped all the underseal off,and most of my skin in the process and set about re-sealing it.
I didn't re prime anything as it didn't seem it needed when I was about to apply super thick underseal.
Once the underseal was dry I then sprayed Waxoyl over the top of the underseal,thus sealing the fresh under seal and also sprayed into all the nooks and crannies that one can't do properly by hand.
I cant remember how I did it now but I also sprayed inside as many box sections as I could,i seem to recall you can get access from inside the car.
The car stank for weeks after,but the reult is two years later my chassis is still mint.

It's not the best idea to cavity wax when the roads are wet as anything that's in the cavities will get sealed in by the wax.

Best to wait for a dry spell and go for a good drive to make sure everything's dry first :)

Thanks guys, I plan to just do the inside of the rear quarter panels first, and put the car back in the garage later in the year when doing inside the door panels.
