heres a strange one

when i have been driving my Is faily hard for about an hour or so, a slight rattle develops from around the gearbox/clutch type area. I t can be heard inside and outside the car on idle only

yet when i put my foot on the clutch, the noise stops completely?

this is only after fairly hard driving for an hour or so around some country roads; a fourty minute commtute to college or to a mates and it does not do it; only when its been getting some action.

any ideas?

One of the techies will get the right part name but basically its something like the idler cog/gear within gearbox and is very very common. Its not fatal so dont worry !!! Can be corrected when overhauling the gearbox.

Sounds like common E30 idler rattle. Don't worry about it.

Ive noticed this on mine aswell, its been doing it for about 2 years now but does it on any lenght of journey, after asking a few zoners about it i was told its a common thing with sport boxs and not to worry.
Hasnt got any worse or gone bang so i aint gonna lose any sleep

Got the same prob on my touring and on my 850csi - mechanic i use just says it's not worth looking at on the 8, so i've ignored it on the touring!!
