i have a 1987 bmw 325i and latly my car has been making sounds when I turn the wheel. i have put fluid back in it and it solves the problem for a day or so. i took it to an auto zone and a guy said that i have water inside it. moisture in the system will break it, but i don't know how he figured that out? i just figured that i had a leak and that i'll fix it when i get back home. is this a normal issue w/ BMW's? i'm just wondering if there has been any recalls or any way i can fix this problem w/o buying a whole new pwer steering system?

drain, flush system. find leak in the process. replace the faulty item/s. fill and bleed system..

i havnt got a clue if any of that is correct, but if i have learned anything from the zone, itԚ´s that almost everything can be fixed, and never trust a garage.

p.s welcome dude, u will find all u need on the zone :bmw:

Steering fluid should be a nice dark red colour. Any other get it changed and flushed right away as Jonoho says, and hope.
