Brake calliper bleed nipple
Moderator: martauto
One of my brake callipers bleed nipple's is getting hard to turn with a spanner. There isn't much left for the spanner to grip on to, but the calliper is otherwise good. Can the bleed nipple be replaced? Is it just a case of unscrewing it and putting in another?

absollutly ANY local discount auto parts shop will sell them. Cheap as chips. (make sure you ask for small ones though)

This happened to both my front ones - had to file em down so a 6mm spanner would fit to remove them (and one of them still snapped off it was so rusted tight, lucky it loosened it as it snapped)
Bought new ones from BMW bit they're bit bloody pricey (£3-4 each!?)
So if you can get em elsewhere then do so

Any where will do them GSF or Euro or any local parts place like that Andrew Page or SAS if you have one. Make sure you take an old one in, and they'll be metric, as theres loads of different sizes. You'll probably get 10 for the price of 1 from BMW.
Halfords, ECP, GSF, GMD Motor Factors (Chester-le-street), Andrew Page, Partco. NOT ONE OF THEM SELLS THEM!
I tried them all earlier this month for a friends 316i. Stealer only and you often need to quote the VIN!
Shocking but true!

I simply can't believe that, but I guess if you've checked it must be so!johnna wrote:Halfords, ECP, GSF, GMD Motor Factors (Chester-le-street), Andrew Page, Partco. NOT ONE OF THEM SELLS THEM!

My mate's nipples were rotten and snapped under pressure. Sufficient metal was left to bang on an under sized socket 6mm/ 7/32af.
I told him to buy new, but he's still running on the old ones...
The reason they are not stocked is that they no longer fail. They do not rot like they used to.
I'd be interested to see if they can be bought over the counter away from BMW.
NB Motorforce don't stock them either...

Well if you have to buy them from the stealr then 34.11.1.153.197 is the number for the front bleed screw on my 318iS, presume it'll be the same for all models?
