Hiya

I have got a clutch master cylinder to put on my 318i, but after popping the bonnet and seeing most of it is in the bulk head I couldnt be assed even tryin to do it.

asked me dad who is a fully trained mechanic but he reckons its a tricky job (would ask him to do it but he lives 3 hours drive away)

so ive booked it into the local garage. but forgot to ask the book time. They charged me an hours labour when they did the slave cylinder, will this be similar?

(I would ring them up but I think thay are fed up of me by now! especially since i always source my own parts)

Took me 45 mins to change it and bleed the system, it's an ok job if you have the right socket extension, not too long and not too short. And if the pipe comes off the end without shearing.

it is very easy 1 bolt to the pedal and two to the bulkhead drain the fluid first so it dont leak everywhere and this is a good time to wash out the reservoir you would be suprised what lives at the bottom of it ...the hose just pulls off put new one on then bleed it should definately take no more than a hour ...the only other work is you have to drop the panel under the steering column to get at it. 1hour tops and that includes time to drink a cup of tea as well
