WTF?
Just started fitting my Propshaft to the gearbox (with a nice new Guibo winkeye ) and noticed this bloddy thing wasn't there! (NUMBER 3)

A question, Is it needed at all? It doesnt seem to have a part no on realoem and if you look at the one underneath it doesnt have one.

Hi James! Yeah its the M3 prop. I had to splash out on a new donut cause the spacing is different but didnt think too much about that "thing".

I think I'll just get similar bolts to the other 3 and that should do.

Cheers.

The "thing" is a harmonic vibration damper, and can be left off with no noticeable ill effects.
IIRC, it had some minor effect with early guibos, but later ones are made of a better material, and the balancer is not needed.

There's another active thread somewhere on here about BMW front prop flanges and guibos. There appears to be two different diameters of BMW flanges (across different BMW models), and both 10mm and 12mm bolts are in use. The larger diameter seems always to use 12mm bolts, but the smaller ones can be either.
So, if you're using the smaller flange, check the bolt hole sizes.
