Hi all. I have a annoying problem with my 316i - when the front doors open the interior lights do not come on. opening the rear doors will make the lights come on. The car has factory electric front windows and opening the doors with the ignition off enables the windows to move. I can hear relays click when the doors open and the electric window switches light up , so i know both door contacts work. Anyone got any ideas or should i start proding around!

Mine has a similar problem to this.
Ive found that if i wiggle the pin switch then they work, indicating faulty/knackered pin switch.
Ive just never got round to changing them!

door pin switches have two seperate switch contacts.
Unscrew the single screw holding the switch in place and wriggle it out. Pull off both connectors, and make sure they don't spring back through the hole. Clean up the metal contacts, and check whether a little wedge of black plastic has built up, keeping the contacts just apart.
Carefully remove this plastic with a sharp knife, lubricate the switch with a little silicon grease, and screw it back. Doesn't matter which wire goes to which contact.
