Hi,
Has anyone got any pics of these fitted to the fronts? Any good/bad points to them?
Thanks

Drilled discs are prone to cracking, better to go for slotted discs
ATE power discs are a good cheap option at about £25 a corner for the fronts from eurocarparts, Sabine won the 24hr Nurburgring using these!
They dont do them for the rear but you'll be fine sticking to the solid there

Robin

I've had the x drilled zimmermans on my touring for 2 years nearly, they've done very well, much improvement over standard, and they get a caning over the local mountain passes on a regular basis!
My dad also has them fitted to his Mk 16v golf, and they've been on there nearly 8 years now!!!

Had these discs front and back for over 6 months now, and no cracking. You can just about see them in my sig pic.

Got Zimmerman discs on the front of my car with Pagid fast road pads. They're better than standard once they are bedded in and I've never had them fade on me. No cracks or warping yet after 18 months on the car.
Taylor.

Fair enough, but I dont see the point in taking the risk or paying a lot for discs either
Maybe the zimmerman holes are cast instead of drilled? In which case they'd be stronger

Robin

Robin.
Looking at the pictures of the smashed up disc, the hole spacings look suspiciously irregular

.
Every drilled & vented disc I've ever seen has had a regular pattern and dimension to the hole spacings.
Do you have any idea of the disc make or where it came from?
First impressions are it's been 'home drilled'.

Agreed, especially in that 2nd pic, one of those drill holes is worryingly close to the edge of the disc!
It does happen though there's no denying it, and if I wanted a disc for the track, I would use grooved, or standard.

Audi TT ?
I have Zims too, no issues ever , this is my second set in 5 years, always use Pagid fast roads too, these get a lot of abuse on my car daily with no problems at all.

No sorry I don't the pics were linked to from another page
Looking closer at them though, they do look quite irregular as you say
Dodgy! Could well be a home drilled job
But I've heard plenty of discs cracking horror stories
Probably fine for road use, but the thermal shock of track use is too much for them.
The only ones that seem to stand that are the Porsche ones that are cast
Cheers,
Robin

The discs in the pics do look a bit D.I.Y and I've heard of people drilling or trying to grove discs to save money, anyway back to the point I've had Zimmerman discs on the front of one of my cars for years and I thought they were very good and wouldnt think twice about buying them again. I had the discs and Pagid fast road pads and its fair to say the improvment in braking was impressive and they faded far less than the standard ones I took off.

the only drilled disks i know which are cast with the holes are brembo?
but i'm sure zimmermans will be fine for road use and plenty of grief too, just no heavy track work!
ATE power disks grooved are superb they really are

And cheaper!
Still not that convinced by these pagid fast road pads I've recently put on though.
Better than stock, but not hugely
Next time I'll def. fork out the extra for ds2500 again
Cheers,
Robin
