Been offline for over a week because of phone line problems, and have just found this.
Quick answer is: mostly correct. Will give a more detailed reply tonight if you still need to know.

Anyone else who has posted things aimed at me lately, please repost, or bump them up.

E34 or E36 pin should go to E30 pin 2, if you have oil level "check" panel.

E34 16 is Rx data from the ECU, and isn't used.

E34 18 goes to E30 18. both black/yellow. E30 17 should have no pin.

E34 19 should go to E30 11.

You won't have anything connected to E30 12. You need to fit a socket pin in the body socket and feed a wire through the fusebox, down into the cabin, along behind the dash and then to a warning light fitted in a spare position on the instrument panel. I used a spare ABS warning light, fitted in a spare orange compartment intended for the preheat on diesels.
Connect the other side of the lamp to ignition live. This is your ECU fault light.
