Is this a straight forward swap?

Basically my clutch is starting to feel sorry for its self, not quite slipping yet but shouldnt think it will be long so i was thinking, will it be worth fitting the M40 flywheel while im doing the clutch?

Is it as simple as fitting the cluth/flywheel or will i have problems with the gearbox not fitting anymore?

Anyone got any experience of this swap/any advice?

I do have a 316i(M40) that im breaking so any parts i need i can scrounge from that?
(Apart from clutch which ill buy new)

Thanks in advance :)

Im sure ive read that the 318is box has a different size input shaft so dont know if this will cause problems?

Anyone else add anything to this?
Would like to do it soon before i get rid of my breaker!

well if your doing the clutch then all i can suggest id that you offer the parts up to each other to see if they fit.

I agree but im not taking the 316i apart if i dont need the bits and i dont want to buy a M40 clutch instead of M42 clutch if i dont need to,unless they are the same?
