Right, so i'm close to getting my hands on a steering rack out of an E36 M3, and i was hoping to fit it to mine.
I have read however that it is very difficult to get this to fit on an IS because of the tubular manifold?
Also, I understand the steering UJ mod issue, but why do you have to get new pipes made up?

In this case very difficult means using a different exhaust manifold. Don't bother going any further with the other stuff unless you are prepared to do this or come up with another solution; the line the coupling wants to take is through one of the down pipes.
The hydraulic lines are different to cope with different pump/reservoir locations and, more significantly, different connection points on the steering rack.

If you keep the original manifold, yes.318-is wrote:So would you say its next to impossible?
You could have a go at modding the original to fit around the steering joint - but from what Ive experienced doing my S50 manifolds, its no easy job
A custom manifold would be an option, that way you could have it built to fit, but that wont be cheap
