I have a 1989 320i with a 325 head on it and it is leaking alot of oil.

The oil is leaking from the front of the head somewhere, then runs onto the pressure sensor cable, then drips on the floor.

So any thoughts?????

Also does any know how the oil gets into the head and how it drains out again. If i rev the engine without the oil filler cap, i can see a big surge of oil come up at the front of the cylinder head, should this really happen?

Could a drain hole be blocked or a seal gone or I am going to have to take the head off.

There are lots of oil galleries in the head to the block and they pass through the head gasket up to the head and back again to the block.

It's normal that with increased revs the oil pressure increase and therefore the oil flow to the head increases.

The usual leak on these is the camshaft seal behind the distributor. best bet would be to get a head set (gaskets) from Eurocarparts and fit all the new seals and gaskets excluding the head gasket (save just incase).

If that still doesn't solve it that you might nead to rip the head off and do the head gasket people say they can also leak oil but normally this is only if the engine has over heated.

Hope this helps
If I can't fix it I'll f**k it up so bad nobody can!!

Just remembered that the oil pressure relief valve seals also leak and thats just by the oil filter
