i have a really dodgy idle

ever since i had the 2.5 dropped in its always been a bit dodgy.

and when revved its not like normal cars, if you give it a quick
jab on the throttle its quite lumpy and delayed and i know
its not supposed to be like this.

solutions anyone? :?

cheers eun

i would check the idle control valve this causes 80% of poor idle problems

I've got a similar sounding problem with my 325i - i've tried testing the icv as instructed in the old haynes manual - it passes all the voltage & resistance tests, but haynes states that if disconnected with the engine running, the idle should rise to approx 2000rpm - mine doesn't have any effect when disconnected!!
Does that mean this is definately the problem??

Cheers,
Rob.
