Wet front footwells

The front footwells in my car are soaked, especially the drivers side. The car has been stood for a couple of weeks now (I replaced it with a newer SE), so I'm assuming the water is getting in from the drainage system somewhere. I'll check the sunroof drains when I get chance, but what else should I check? I've read mentions of an "elephant trunk" on here before, but WTF is that?

the elephant trunk is a small penis shaped piece of rubber tubing that drains water from just under the bottom of the windscreen wiper box area. it can gum up at the end and may need opening up to drain it.

you need to check for corrosion under the under-bonnet trim under your wiper area, your windscreen seal, door rubber seals, heater matrix inside the cabin, sunroof drain channels if applicable, scuttle drain channels and door weather veins for water-tightness.

i'm sure there are other possible causes too - there have been a multitude of 'wet carpet' threads on this and the old zone too.

do you know as i typed that i knew somebody would quote it but i couldn't think of a better way to describe it. at least it's better than what i put on the old forum 'i regularly squeeze my elephant trunk and a good few drops come out' - when that was quoted how embarrased was i?
