my 325 is kicking out quite alot of white smoke when cold and smells of petrol. I have just fitted a zone chip and i have only noticed the problem since then, the car did the same before but no were near as bad. Also since fitting the chip my OBC mpg reading has gone from 18,19ish to 12,13ish, and i get lashed every day on the way to work by mK2 golf gti 8 valve, which is so wrong!
I think it may be running rich but not sure any thoughts on this appreciated.
cheers

Can you run through how you fitted it, what you did? Will allow a better diagnosis as there is a few things that can effect it.
My zone chip ran awesome for the year or so I had it, ran sub 7secs to 60 and was a much better drivers engine of my m20b25. 25mpg's on a 80 cruise and 18mpg round town and having fun.
Did you remove power from the ecu for 10 mins? and I found bouncing the limiter in 3rd helped get the top end open.

i removed ecu, took into dark room with no ultraviolet lights. it must have been of the car for ten minutes. plugged ecu back in ran engine for about quarter of an hour, i think i may have reved it a little at the start. left car stood for about an hour took for a drive for an hour.

the underlined bit is where I have issues, you must not fit a chip if you know there is a pre-existing issue affecting concumption or performnace mate !
Return the chip for inspection dude, I'll need al your ECU details again too fella, something maybe got lost in translation when ordering through the shop??
If you're local to me, by all means get in touch and we'll have a look together OK
gimme a call tomorrow fella to discuss, you have my number ( as does anyone whos bought a chip, its there for a reason folks ! )

white smoke wil not be overfueling, it sounds like carbon which can be removed with the higher advance (chip mod).
i now advise people with high miler engines to run some sort of engine cleaner like redex to give the system a good clean either before or after fititng the chip
