 I hace an 87 325is (chrome bumper), which really needs an engine swap (oil being burnt  ). I have a newer engine out of a plastic bumper 325is and wanted to know if it needs the ecu. Can my new(er) engine plug straight into my old ecu without much fuss??

cheers

hello mate,

sadly its not that easy , but alot easier than itԚ´ll sound

u need to use the new series ecu, and all the ancilliarys from the new engine including loom to do a propper job.

might aswell do it in that way to minimise the confusion

They did change the engine harness plug around 86-87 so hopefully it will plug straight in 8)
