Now i've finished refurbing my BBS's i'm poddering which size to go with :?
I was gonna stick on 195/50R15V but i'm a bit worried how much the clock's will fall out. I need them to be cheap but do i really need to go to 205/60 ?
I don't want to even go to 205/50 but what does everyone else think?

205/60 is the wrong size!!

205/55 the correct size, but 205/50 is the best as a few f the track day boys use them. falken or toyos are good and not too expensive either

I used to work in a tyre garage and i just went to one near me and the bloke turned round to me and said, "that's the wrong size!". I was like, fuck off, i can put what i like on my motor!
He looked through his little book and said the right size for the 318i is 205/60 but i'm sticking a 2.5 in it soon so i need the right size for that engine. Richard (TOURINGDADDY) is running 195/50 on his tourer 325i and it's great on them and can get hold of Toyo's for Ԛ£27 each.

What do you reckon Kos, go with 205?

rolling diamter of 195/50/15 = 576mm

205/55/15 = 606.5mm

quite a big difference

its the size the seloc racers use, and a bit narrow a possibly low on grip for such a heavy car, but it makes for entertaining racing, you may find the back end loosing tracktion if the car is a 2.5 ???

It was a bit lose in his tourer but that was the fun of it i spose but it cornered well unless you wanted the back to slide out.
My car is a 318i at the mo but is having the 2.5 in it within a mth's time. If i can afford the tyre's i'll go with the 205/50, it had them on before on my old 15's and was fine.

Cheer's for the replies lad's, much appreciated :thumb:

205/50 i recon buddy, the guy at the tyre place must have been looking at e36 sizes!!
i'm running 225/40 falkens with 16" rims and get loads more grip an the roads,10mph faster out of some bends on my fave roads over the last set of 15" with 205/55 15" pirelli 6000's.
the recomended size for 16" is 205/50 front and 225/45 rear but i said bollocks to that as well!! when 1 lower on the profile, but may change fronts to 215/45's for a bit more grip, as it undesteer a tad, but that will be after i change the suspensionn set up and ARB's which will alter the car completely so there may be no need for it
with lower profilesthere is less feeling of when the back will break away, with a 205/ 50 profile you can feel whens its about to go
205/50 front and rears mate with 15's

You might want to have a look at the load indexs of the tyres too

The lowest recommended in the manual is 84, a typical 205/55/15 is 87-88
195/50/15 tend to be around 82

Otherwise I'd have probably bolted a set of 195/50/15 Eagle F1 GSD3 on mine
Cheers,
Robin

use 205 50 15's they look much better, im using these at the moment with motorsort bbs's.

you can slam the car too with no rubbing issues, 195's will look to skinny an sit too far n the arches imo. :D

I'm running 15" bbs on both cars (same model, age etc), one has the standard 205/55, the other has 205/50. If it's any help, the 205/50's feel better.

i've got 195/50's on the touring-doesnt seem to affect handling too much! and as for speedo-seems to be ok.
