I cleaned mine out with brake cleaner and was surprised how much crap it shifted from it. I then gave it a wipe with a clean cloth to remove and left over residue.

Thats the whole point of brake cleaner not to leave residue!

Some say carb cleaner is better for this as it does leave a residue to help with lubrication...

But I always though that carb/brake cleaner were pretty much the same thing!

A tip from Simon... buy the stuff in your local Ԛ£1 shop as it will cost a pound rather than the Ԛ£3.99 the halfords will want for it!

An even better tip is just use petrol. 88.9p a litre. Cheaper than carb/brake/gunk cleaners.

Does the job too.

It was more just a little left over dirt where it dried on. There was so much crap coming off it that it wouldnt all just wash away with the cleaner.

Carb cleaner is much better and safer for cleaning things that need lubrication
