Is it nessarsary to bleed the power steering pump?

Fitted a tested pump at the weekend, tensioned the belt, toped up fluid and tried it.

Steering is working fine, but when turning on full lock either way it screaches as if the belt is slack

Does it need bleeding?
How?

Thanks in advance :)

Changed my rack a couple of weeks ago and followed Bentleys bleeding instructions which was to turn from lock-to-lock 10-15 times with the engine running, topping up reservoir as you go. This worked well, but the system is self-bleeding, so I don't know what more you can do than just use it and see if it sorts itself out.

if the belt screeches on full lock then the tension is too tight. i tightened my belt too tight and it made that horrible sound.

you should loosen it, as this can cause problems with the bearing on the pas pump pulley/shaft
