Has anyone replaced here their carpet?

I have a replacement carpet at home and plan on fitting it in the not too distant future, but was looking for some tips that might make the job easier. It was very difficult to get the replacement carpet out of the scrapper car in one piece as its pretty tight fit under the centre dash section.

I know some people cut round the hearet matrix area when fitting a replacement, but I'd like to fit the new carpet in one piece if possible. Thought about sandwiching it between some slippery plastic sheeting that could be pulled once the carpet is in place, but don't know if this is a runner. Has anyone any other ideas?

it will go in with some patience but it truly is easier to trim a couple of inches from the front middle bit.... it'll never show.

I have the larger matrix in my car and i got the carpet in without cutting anything at all. Its dead easy.

ive done it a few times and it does get in with a wiggle or 300!!

Ive just fitted a new carpet into my e30 last week, I managed to put a small rip in the carpet when removing it from the donor car just under the centre columb.

I had a little help from my brother when fitting it back into my car, It takes a good few minutes to squeeze it under the centre columb but with a little help its made a lot easier.

I cut a small section out to make it go under easier but you cant see it anyway, so no probs.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try with the carpet intact. It was a two man job to pull the carpet from the donor car, but hopefully it will go in easier into my car.
