First of all welcome (as this is my first post). I'm a proud (sometimes, not so much when it fails on me) owner of 1985 E30 316. I'm trying to get my M10B18 to working order, as I daily my E30. Recently, it has developed a new sound coming out of it. It's not noticeable at startup - at the beginning the engine runs just fine, but when it warms up slightly I can hear that sound constantly while engine braking (it stops immediately when I add some gas). Not sure what it is - I've taken off the valve cover (and everything looked and felt in order), I've torn out the exhaust shield, I've replaced the carb (old pierburg gave way), replaced the mechanical fuel pump (leaked fuel into oil
), and honestly I've no idea what it might be. I'm not noticing any issues with the engine, apart from it being noisy - I think we can all agree that it takes a lot of the fun away from driving such an amazing car. Any ideas?
