Hi everyone,
Some might remember me from a topic last year where I had a very uncommon stalling issue with my E30 316 (weber). I sometimes lost power at highway speeds, making the engine only run at idle or full throttle. The only remedy was to disassemble and again assemble the weber carburettor, while nothing seemed to be at fault.
I never found the issue but the problem seems to be gone (happened last in august 2021). I did a lot of things including cleaning the carb twice, replacing the manifold rubber and installing a weber revision set, so maybe that solved it.
However, I still have issues. I have twice had power loss, but now on speeds around 50 km/h. Pulling the hand choke keeps the engine running and after a km or so the issue is gone. Seems to be an obvious fuel starvation issue, but everything regarding the fuel delivery is checked twice. Fuel pump and filter are new.
Now I noticed that the engine will misfire when depressing or releasing the brake. So, when applying pressure to the pedal and when removing this pressure. After 2 seconds the engine will run normally again, also when I keep the brake depressed. It is only when there is a change in pedal pressure that the engine misfires. It is not really audible, but I noticed it by a lot of engine movement which I saw with the bonnett open, and by feeling a shudder in the car. The engine seems to temporarely run on one or two cylinders less.
Any idea what this is? It probably is some leak in the brake booster circuit obviously, but I hope that the weird behaviour of only misfiring during changing brake pedal pressure can rule some things out. Brakes feel normal.
Thanks!
