My overhead display brake light warning lamp keeps coming on, it is very intermittent but annoying as there is nothing wrong with the lights, they all work,
I have removed the module by the antenna and it is all good, clean and dry, opened it up and no fault found on the PCB or coils.

Only fly in the ointment is the high level brake light, it is tapped into the left brake light wire but works fine.

If I flick the ignition off and on whilst driving and dab the brake it goes off and stays off, sometimes for hours, days even, then two or three times on the trot.

Really annoying. :x

All comments by me should be taken in the right sprite, Jack Daniels is fine.

This can be caused by the earth attachment to each metal bulb holder plate in the rear clusters...mine did exactly this...I soldered a jump cable to the metalwork...OK ever since. Check it out as well as any corrosion on the bulb holders where the pins of each bulb sit.

What Paul said check the lamp unit earths and change the bulbs any way, old bulb filaments can break and rejoin sometimes going over bumps.

Might be the known problem with a connection on the instrument panel.

Ben
Thanks for input guys.
I don't think it's the cluster as it is not the wear indicator that comes on but the bulb failure light in the overhead.
I will strip and clean the rear bulb holder units with a Dremal and check the wiring again though. :bmw:
