I started the car this morning and had smoke pouring out from one of the heated windscreen washers  followed by spits of rusty water (it then stopped smoking). As the car was on it's way to being serviced anyway, the garage are now replacing it but does anyone know what would have caused this? Or has it happened to anyone else?

strange as there should be no current to them untill they are operated they take there power from the pump...as soon as the washers are operated the jets heat up ...i suppose if the wires short out the water on them will cause it to spit as it is shorting out
