I recently bought a 1987 BMW 325i Cabrio with a bad starter, so naturally I replaced it, and now the car starts! But it won’t stop either.. even when I take the key out of the ignition the starter is still spinning with the engine off (it’s a brand new starter and it sounds like one too) the only way i could get it to stop was by disconnecting the battery. I waited a day and decided to re-connect the battery to see what would happen and just as I suspected, the starter turned right back on, and I hadn’t even stepped into the car to turn the key. I immediately disconnected the battery! I wired the starter up correctly and it didn’t seem like anything was bridging a false connection! I’ve heard this problem is very common with fords but never an E30. Somebody please point me in the right direction, this is my first car and I love it so much and I would hate to give up on this beautiful restoration, but I absolutely cannot put my finger on this problem.

When its running individually remove K5 , K7 relays & I've read somewhere the DME. , When you turn on ignition accessories work because relay gets ignition and ground through starter solenoid . When you crank car there is positive voltage on starter solenoid and accessories relay disengages( it wont work if two positive voltages are applied). so if for any reason this relay is bad ( shorted) the ignition voltage can go through it right to the starter. take off all relays in the fuse box and see what effect it has and good luck
