I am trying to piece together what I would need for a 5-6 psi reliable turbo setup with a catch: It needs to be returnable to basically stock and needs to keep A/C.

I live in California where any visual engine changes on E30's are illegal. I would like to get parts that do not require grinding the bumper/frame of the car and do not drastically prevent any component from being returned to stock in case I get a fix it ticket/need a legitimate smog.

As far as I know, megasquirt pnp and routing a MAF line while removing the stock airbox for an air temp sensor is reversible, so are bigger injectors and a different FPR. AN fittings can be plugged up so I'm not worried about drilling for oil lines.

The fitment of the turbo hardware itself is a complete mystery to me. It seems like almost nobody fits an intercooler w/ A/C and a lot of cutting/grinding of the frame is common is a lot of diy articles on r3v. Does anyone here have a turbo setup that was relatively drop-in with a smaller intercooler for fitment? What was your parts list? Are there turbo/manifold combinations that fit without touching the A/C line on the exhaust side? Are there any other major fitment issues I would have to research more? 10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254
