As above, if I push the cable in and out at the engine end 3/4 times the pedal loosens up but after about 5 mins it starts to stiffen again why ?

is it the pedal itself or the cable somewhere along it's route?
mine did that for a while, shot of wd40 on the peddle hinge & it was good as gold afterwards,
