BMW intake manifold component

Hey guys just wanted to know what this system is on a bmw e30 m10 motor because as I crank the motor it tends to backfire from here. If you know what it is or what my problem is please help thanks.

Is the car an injection or carb model ?

Hey mate it is a fuel injected model not carby and I’ll attach a photo of the car thanks. The car is having a starting issue and it is backfiring from the hose that goes to the intake manifold to the system.
