So I'm new to the world of BMW, just got a crisp 1987 325i vert, only 93k miles, and had a few questions on the car.
First, the dampers to the compartment that the roof stows away in are shot, and I'm having trouble finding a replacement pair online. Any suggestions on where to find them? Second, the fan for the heater/ac only works on high (4). I've heard this is due to a resistor going bad, but I've found two different resistors as replacements, is there a specific part number I should be looking for? And finally, do I really need to shell out the big bucks for BMW parts that seem to be 3x the price of generic replacements on like rockauto? I'm trying to keep her looking all original, but are small components really worth the extra cash?
Thanks for the help guys.

Welcome to the Zone.
Please post photos of the car (and I'm not even sure why I said that...)
1. The struts are available from Fatherland https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162969174833
2. https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.p ... nly_on_Max
3. Rockauto? Are you from states or Canada? In most instances you'll want to get genuine BMW parts as you get what you pay for. There are exceptions of course as BMW doesn't make all the parts for E30 anymore and in some instances the 3rd party equivalent is just as good/better. It all depends on what you're wanting to buy/replace. Your best bet is to use a good supplier like FCPEuro. Since your based in north America, you should join r3vlimited.com as that's where all the north American E30 "homies" hang around and they'll be able to advice you on the best options for parts.
Good luck!
