Hi all.
Basically as the title says, I need some help diagnosing issues with my engine not starting when I turn the key. I just finished the head gasket job I was doing and started it up today to break the cam in and bleed the cooling. I started it once with the rocker cover off just to make sure the oil spray bar was working properly, where it ran until it died out on its own. I went around the bay making sure everything was right and when I came to start it up again the motor would just crank once and then stop turning. I took the rocker cover off to check the cam position and make sure it still lined up at tdc, which it did. I turned it over by hand and felt a bit of resistance and heard some grinding, which quickly went away at which point the motor turned over freely.
It sounds to me like somethings gone wrong with the starter, but I'm wondering if it could be something to do with the rest of the work I've done as part of replacing the head gasket, since it seems like a bit of a coincidence that the starter would go just as I replaced another thing.
Appreciate any help.
