Hi, does anyone know what this wire is used for? From what I can gather it’s coming from the OBC.

Correct, that is the cable going to the OBC code box. If connected, this would replace a small green jumper .
At this stage leave alone... you have a bit of unusual wiring in your pic that could do with sorting out first
