BMW e30 320i engine running nicely. After about 5 mins I checked I played with the heater/blower. Turned to highest setting. Could hear a buzzing noise but blower wasn't working. Not a surprise as it was on its way out. What did surprise me is the engine completely cut out. Like the battery had been removed from car. Nothing was working. Played around with the positive on battery and car did come back to life ( position 1 on ignition). When I tried to start car, car cut out again.
Have no idea what's going on.
Appreciate any help with this.
Thanks.

Check all battery connections, including main leads at both ends and body to engine earth strap, PROPERLY.
Note that a bad body to engine strap on a facelift 6 pot can cause terminal damage to the engine wiring loom.
Blowers on E30s don't go "on the way out" - they just suffer from lack of maintenance.
