Engine hunting when cold (after new second hand ECU)

As above,it maybe a coincidence after the ECU being fitted.It runs vey lumpy and idles very uneven ,it gets a little bit better when it warms up. Also when it starts it revs at about 2500 rpm until I rev it and it drops down to 1500/2000 rpm.
