Hi all just trying to get the caps of the E30, one of the front ones is spinning, there is a point at which it becomes difficult to turn but once past that, it's easy to turn. I'm guessing the mechanism is not locking and unlocking properly. I just wanted to see if anyone has any advice before I try to pull it out.

The point where it's difficult to turn is where the lugs lock up and it shouldn't be possible to turn it anymore. If the lugs are worn as your are then it will keep turning. At the point where the cap spins freely get a thin edge under the cap and pry it off.
